The 2022/23 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round draw, kicking off the new season, took place at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday 18 July.

The round will feature 14 teams, the majority of whom will be confirmed after the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round ends on 26/27 July.

Due to a technical issue, a recording of the draw rehearsal, which took place on Monday morning as before every draw, was temporarily available on UEFA.com and the UEFA Europa League app prior to the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round draw itself. The actual draw took place live as scheduled, with the participation of the clubs, in the House of European Football in Nyon, at 13:00 CET. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Third qualifying round ties

Champions path

Malmö FF (SWE) vs Diddeleng (LUX)
Shamrock Rovers (IRL) vs Shkupi (MKD)
Linfield (NIR) vs Zürich (SUI)
Olympiacos (GRE) vs Slovan Bratislava (SVK)
Maribor (SVN) vs HJK Helsinki (FIN)

The ten teams eliminated from the Champions League Champions path second qualifying round will contest the Europa League Champions path third qualifying round.

Main path

AEK Larnaca (CYP) vs Partizan (SRB)
Fenerbahçe (TUR) vs Slovácko (CZE)

The two sides eliminated from the Champions League second qualifying round (League path) will join two teams entering in the Europa League third qualifying round (Main path). The automatic entrants – Partizan and Slovácko – were seeded.

How the draw worked

• No teams were seeded for the third qualifying round of the Champions path. An open draw was held to determine pairings, with the first team drawn playing the first leg at home.

• The clubs that qualify directly for the third qualifying round of the Main path were seeded above the clubs eliminated from the second qualifying round of the Champions League (League path).

• For the Main path draw, the balls containing the names of the seeded teams were placed in one bowl and the balls containing the unseeded sides put into another bowl. One ball was taken from each bowl and placed in a large empty bowl in the middle, where they were shuffled. The first team drawn will play the first leg at home.

• Clubs from the same association could not be drawn against each other. Teams from Armenia and Azerbaijan were also being kept apart: if Pyunik (ARM) and Qarabağ (AZE) had been drawn against each other, the ball drawn second would have been put to one side.
