Andriy Shevchenko is among several key FC Dynamo Kyiv players who will miss their opening UEFA Europa League Group E encounter against FC BATE Borisov on Thursday.

Shevchenko suffered a knee injury in Ukraine's friendly game against Chile last Tuesday and the 33-year-old striker will not return in time to meet BATE, Dynamo coach Valeri Gazzaev coach has confirmed. Also missing are defenders Danilo Silva and Goran Popov, both out until next month due to a broken nose and a hamstring injury respectively.

Forward Roman Zozulya (illness) and midfielder Facundo Bertoglio (ankle), are also sidelined but Roman Eremenko and left-back Badr El Kaddouri are available despite missing Saturday's 2-0 win against FC Metalurh Zaporizhya.
