FC Lokomotiv Moskva are predicting big things for Maksim Grigoryev after signing the Russia Under-21 midfielder on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The 21-year-old arrives from FC MITOS Novocherkassk, but having spent 2011 on loan at FC Rostov where he played 29 Premier-Liga games and scored against Lokomotiv on his league debut. Previously at FC Spartak Moskva, he has appeared three times in Russia's 2013 UEFA European U21 Championship qualifying campaign.

"In Grigoryev we have signed one of Russia's brightest young talents," said Lokomotiv chief scout Kirill Kotov. "Maksim is a quick and versatile player who can fill any position in attack. It's also very important that he hasn't reached his full potential yet. I'm sure Grigoryev has all it takes to become a national team player at Lokomotiv and even one of the leaders of a new generation."

Lokomotiv, sixth in the extended Russian league season, face Athletic Club in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 with the first leg in Russia on 16 February before the return in Bilbao a week later.
