Panathinaikos FC have signed promising Greek full-back Manolis Roubakis from OFI Crete.
Roubakis, 26 today, has been a regular in the OFI team for the past three seasons following his move from fellow island club Atsalenios. Roubakis, who can also play on the left side of midfield, had long been linked with a move to the Greek capital. "It's a dream come true to become a Panathinaikos player," he said. "I have been a fan since I was a little kid."
The signing of Roubakis on a two-and-a-half year contract, with the option of an additional two years, is the club's second in a week following the arrival of Cypriot international winger Constantinos Charalambides from APOEL FC. Roubakis will be eligible, if registered, for the club's UEFA Cup last-32 tie against Sevilla FC next month.
