Surgery required
The 31-year-old was forced off before the hour mark in Saturday's goalless draw with OGC Nice. Strasbourg medical chief François Pietra said: "He will undergo surgery on Thursday and won't be available before next year."
Troublesome knee
It is the second time Le Pen has been affected by the problem, having returned to action only three weeks ago. Strasbourg, bottom of France's Ligue 1, visit AS Roma on Thursday as UEFA Cup Group E leaders.
