Tamudo ruled out of Benfica trip

RCD Espanyol's UEFA Cup hopes have been hit by the news that captain Raúl Tamudo will miss their quarter-final second leg at SL Benfica on Thursday evening.

Out for a fortnight
The Espanyol captain opened the scoring in last week's 3-2 first-leg win in Barcelona, but limped off early in the second half after damaging his right calf muscle. The Spanish club have confirmed that Tamudo, 29, will need a fortnight to recover from the injury although in his absence, they can at least still call on the tournament's ten-goal leading scorer, Walter Pandiani, for the visit to Lisbon.
