Ndoye goal perfect for Panathinaikos

FC København 0-1 Panathinaikos FC Dame Ndoye's early goal kept up the visitors' perfect start as home substitute Hjalte Nørregaard missed a penalty.

Dame Ndoye's early goal ensured Panathinaikos FC kept up their perfect start to UEFA Cup Group B at FC København.

Nørregaard unfortunate
Ndoye struck on 15 minutes, and that proved enough to add to the Matchday 1 defeat of Aberdeen FC as home substitute Hjalte Nørregaard missed a penalty and hit the woodwork in København's opening match in the section. Panathinaikos are yet to concede a goal and remain two points clear at the top of the group ahead of their concluding games in December.

Ndoye goal
København enjoyed the best of the early chances and, after Marcus Allbäck had screwed a right-footed shot wide, Jesper Grønkjær brought a good save out of Mario Galinović. The Greek side quickly settled, though, and after 15 minutes Ndoye made the breakthrough when he dispatched a shot from the edge of the area after a precise pass from Dimitrios Papadopoulos.

Chances
Home goalkeeper Jesper Christiansen then denied the visitors a second four minutes later when he held on to a stinging shot from Papadopoulos. Aware of the danger at the other end, København pushed hard for an equaliser and Galinović was forced to punch away a powerful drive from William Kvist. On the half-hour Grønkjær poked Niclas Jensen's corner wide of the left post

Penalty miss
Allbäck was first to threaten in the second half with a strong shot which was caught by Galinović. But the best chance came on 63 minutes when Grønkjær was brought to ground inside the Panathinaikos box by Marcelo Mattos, but Nørregaard, who had only come off the bench seven minutes earlier, put the resulting penalty over. Another substitute, Michael Silberbauer, volleyed just over while Nørregaard had a shot blocked by defender Ioannis Goumas before hitting the crossbar from 15 metres out. It was not FCK's night.
