Four for Grings
Inka Grings scored all four goals for Duisburg but Frankfurt general manager Siegfried Dietrich was not too worried about the result given the team's success in Europe. "This is no disgrace - everything was already decided with the Women's Cup," he said.
Duisburg denied
The win gave Duisburg second slot ahead of Frankfurt, but they miss out on next season's continental competition because league champions and UEFA Women's Cup runners-up 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam will join European champions Frankfurt in representing Germany in 2006/07. Potsdam overcame FC Bayern München 3-1 in their last match.
Wimbersky moves
Meanwhile, Frankfurt have announced that they have signed 23-year-old Potsdam forward Petra Wimbersky. "I was looking for a new challenge and the job opportunities in Frankfurt are much more interesting," said Wimbersky. Dietrich added: "She was top of our list and we are going to have a very competitive offensive trio in Wimbersky, [Sandra] Smisek and [Birgit] Prinz."
