Bergo buoyed by 'incredible win'

"Like a Norwegian team knocking out Barcelona," was how coach Aksel Bergo described his Kolbton IL side's stunning UEFA Women's Cup quarter-final elimination of the holders 1. FFC Frankfurt.

"Like a Norwegian team knocking out Barcelona," was how coach Aksel Bergo described his Kolbton IL side's stunning UEFA Women's Cup quarter-final elimination of the holders 1. FFC Frankfurt.

Fightback
Kolbotn won their home first leg 2-1, but were staring down the barrel after falling 3-0 down just after half-time in last night's return in Germany. Solveig Gulbrandsen and fellow Norwegian international Isabell Herlovsen then scored inside a minute to send the visitors through on away goals, and ensure no German team will feature in the last four for the first time in the six-season history of the competition.

'Incredible win'
"It was an incredible win," Bergo said. "We didn't give up even though Frankfurt were 3-0 up. This is like a Norwegian team knocking Barcelona out of a European competition." He is also looking forward to meeting UmeƄ IK again despite a recent reverse in qualifying, saying: "We fancy our chances against them."

'Real bonus'
Gulbrandsen, the midfield dynamo who also scored both goals in the first leg, added: "This is one of my best days in football. It's absolutely incredible, and a real bonus for us to go through against Frankfurt."
