Prinz commits to Frankfurt

The Bundesliga leaders 1. FFC Frankfurt received further cheer when star player Birgit Prinz extended her contract by one year until the summer of 2008.

Having returned to the top of the Bundesliga at the weekend following the resumption of the German season after its winter break, 1. FFC Frankfurt received further cheer today when star player Birgit Prinz extended her contract by one year until summer 2008.

'Feel great'
A three-time FIFA World Player of the Year and one of the sport's iconic figures, the 29-year-old said: "I feel great here and want to help our very strong team achieve its goals this season and in seasons to come." Prinz has been on Frankfurt's books since 1998, save for a short stint in the United States with Carolina Courage, and has claimed every trophy on offer for club and country. She has also represented Germany more times than any player, 155, and scored more goals, 101. Frankfurt exited the UEFA Women's Cup as holders in the quarter-finals, but aim to attempt to win it for a third time next season as German champions.
