Pohlers joins German rivals

The exodus of high-profile names from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam continues, with flying forward Conny Pohlers the latest star to announce her imminent departure.

Scoring run
The 28-year-old is to join Potsdam's great rivals 1. FFC Frankfurt in the summer on a one-year contract, having done as much as any player to end her future employers' dominance of the domestic game. Pohlers, a world and European champion with Germany, will be best remembered at the eastern club for her heroics in the 2005 UEFA Women's Cup success, scoring 14 goals in the competition.

New challenge
"We're very pleased that Conny Pohlers is looking forward to a new challenge here," said Frankfurt general manager Siegfried Dietrich. "She fits the mould of the type of player we want." Potsdam team-mate Petra Wimbersky is also transferring to Frankfurt, while Ariane Hingst is moving to Djurgården/Älvsjö and Britta Carlson to VfL Wolfsburg.
