Scott proves great for Arsenal

The right-back scored the only goal of the showpiece event in the women's club calendar in the dying seconds in Sweden last Saturday. Despite having to withstand large periods of pressure at Borehamwood in the return, as Umeå twice had efforts strike the frame of the goal, Scott felt that Arsenal were deserved winners.

'Played well'
"I don't think we rode our luck at all," she told uefa.com. "We had chances and could have gone ahead. Obviously they had chances too but we knew they would come at us thick and fast. We played well and gave 110 per cent. It was very nervy at the end when that board went up to show five minutes. They were coming at us but we stood tall and fought until the end and it really showed the character in the team."

Underdogs
Arsenal went into the final as underdogs against two-time former winners Umeå, this despite the fact they have already claimed the English League Cup and league titles this season, winning all 19 of their games in the latter, scoring 107 times on the way to defending their crown. "All season we've only conceded seven goals [in the league]," said Scott. "People might think that when they came here today we would be up against it but we're confident in our ability and our back four."

Bryne praise
The 22-year-old, one of nine English internationals in the Arsenal squad, also paid tribute to goalkeeper Emma Byrne after a number of crucial saves to keep the Swedish champions at bay. "In the first leg Emma was the hero too, even though I scored the goal. She's made some outstanding saves and kept us in both games so all credit to her." But despite Byrne's heroics it will be Scott's winning goal that people will remember and, only her fifth this season, she rates it as her most treasured moment to date. "It feels amazing. I've been popping up in big games with goals but to get this one was obviously the most important one of my career," she said
