Umeå and Rossiyanka advance

Swedish hosts Umeå IK and WFC Rossiyanka of Russia both secured places in the UEFA Women's Cup quarter-finals after winning their second games in Group B2.

Swedish hosts Umeå IK and Russian challengers WFC Rossiyanka both secured their passage to the UEFA Women's Cup quarter-finals after winning their second games in Group B2.

Two goals enough
Twice the champions of Europe, 2006/07 runners-up Umeå scured a 2-0 victory against Belarussian outfit WFC Universitet Vitebsk thanks to a second-half double from June Pedersen. Rossiyanka, recently deposed as champions of Russia, triumphed 2-1 over Romanian contenders CFF Clujana. Natalia Mokshanova gave them a first-half lead before Ionela Ilinca equalised for Clujana after 73 minutes. However, Olga Petrova struck five minutes later to give Rossiyanka the three points.

Battle for first
With both victors also winning in the first round of games, they will meet on Tuesday to determine who will finish top of the group and avoid a meeting with the Group B3 winners, most likely 1. FFC Frankfurt. A draw would put the Swedish champions through in first place as they have a superior goal difference.
