Article body
ASD CF Bardolino Verona are through to the UEFA Women's Cup semi-finals for the first time in their history as they held their nerves to claim a 3-2 penalty shoot-out victory against Brøndby IF after Alessia Tuttino had cancelled out the Danish champions' first-leg lead.
Remarkable progress
Tuttino struck the all-important goal on 27 minutes to silence a crowd of 251 at the Brøndby Stadium, and there proved to be no way back for the hosts. With parity assured, the Italian visitors kept them at bay, forcing extra time and then penalties, where they prevailed 3-2 to end Brøndby's aspirations of a second successive last-four appearance. Bardolino, meanwhile, continue their remarkable progress in only their second UEFA Women's Cup campaign and in the spring will take on two-time winners 1. FFC Frankfurt.
