UEFA Women's Cup finalists Zvezda-2005 began the new Russian league season in mean mood with a 10-1 defeat of WFC Lada Tolyatti.
Kurochkina scores four
Zvezda, aiming for a third straight title, were playing their only competitive game before the UEFA Women's Cup final against FCR 2001 Duisburg, who they face in Kazan on 16 May before travelling to Germany six days later. Russia striker Olesya Kurochkina claimed four goals after Valentina Savchenkova and Nataliya Zinchenko's early openers and Olga Sergaeva and Vera Djatel also hit the target before two late strikes by winter signing Darina Apanaschenko. Anastasia Rodionova got one back for Zevzda coach Aleksandr Grigoryan's former club Lada with the score at 6-0 on 75 minutes against a side without midfielder Maria Dyatchkova due to injury.
