FCR 2001 Duisburg showed the mantle of European champions is no burden as they overwhelmed 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam 7-0 to win the last German Women's Cup final to be played at Berlin's Olympiastadion.

Overwhelming win
The fixture will be moved to its own stadium next season but the 20,000 who watched the game in the build-up to Werder Bremen's German Cup final against Bayer 04 Leverkusen were given a spectacular show by Duisburg, just eight days after they sealed their first UEFA Womens' Cup triumph. Fatmire Bajramaj opened the scoring and Annemieke Kiesel struck either side of the break before Femke Maes increased the lead, Inka Grings added two more and Alexandra Popp ensured Duisburg went one better than their 6-0 victory at Zvezda-2005 in the first leg of the UEFA final.

Voss 'speechless'
Following the record scoreline in a German Women's Cup final, and FCR's first victory in the competition since 1998, Duisburg coach Martina Voss said: "This leaves me speechless. I had to pinch myself during the game, and could not believe it. Today we had an outstanding game. We are just proud." However, although Duisburg can still mathematically complete the treble, they trail league leaders FC Bayern München and Potsdam by four points. Potsdam have one game left while Bayern and Duisburg have one postponed fixture in hand against each other which will be played on Wednesday prior to next Sunday's climax. If Duisburg lose at Bayern all three leading Frauen-Bundesliga clubs will compete in next season's inaugural UEFA Women's Champions League.
