FCR 2001 Duisburg take on newly-crowned Swedish titlewinners Linköpings FC in the pick of a fascinating set of UEFA Women's Champions League round of 16 fixtures this week.
Duisburg challenge
Seven of the first-leg ties are played on Wednesday with the encounter between Fortuna Hjørring and Olympique Lyonnais the following day. Duisburg are aiming to win the revamped competition having taken the former UEFA Women's Cup last season, but welcome a Linköping side who on Saturday beat Umeå 4-0 on their way to securing the Damallsvenskan crown for the first time. Two-time European champions Umeå are in Russia to face WFC Rossiyanka while other former UEFA Women's Cup winners Arsenal LFC and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam face two other sides with proud continental records, AC Sparta Praha and Brøndby IF.
Road to Madrid
Winners after next week's second legs go into the draw for the rest of the competition on 20 November, with the quarter-finals in March, semi-finals in April and the new one-off final in Madrid on 20 May, two days before the men's UEFA Champions League final in the same city.
