WFC Malmö have signed Swedish international Caroline Seger to bolster their UEFA Women's Champions League campaign.

The 2010 Swedish champions have secured the midfielder on a short-term deal for the rest of the year after she captains Western New York Flash in the Women's Professional Soccer final at home to her previous club Philadelphia Independence on Saturday. She joins a Malmö side level with Umeå IK at the Damallsvenskan summit with eight games to go and preparing for a UEFA Women's Champions League round of 32 tie with UPC Tavagnacco, the first leg in Italy on 29 September.

Seger, 26, moved to the United States with Philadelphia in 2010 after leaving Linköpings FC and was a key member of the Sweden team that claimed 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup bronze. "I want to contribute to Malmö having a strong autumn season, hopefully ending with the Swedish championship title," said Seger, who is yet to decide on her plans for next year.
