Former semi-finalists Brøndby IF and Italian title holders ASD Torres CF both won 2-0 away in the first two UEFA Women's Champions League round of 32 opening legs played on Tuesday.

Brøndby, who reached the last four of the UEFA Women's Cup in 2003/04 and 2006/07, came away from Standard Femina de Liège with a useful lead to defend in Denmark next Thursday. The visitors were always in control after Lise Munk struck on eight minutes, Nanna Christiansen adding another late in the first half.

In the tie that will decide Brøndby or Standard's round of 16 opposition, Torres were held for 49 minutes by preliminary round qualifiers ASA Tel-Aviv FC before Sandy Maendly broke the deadlock from outside the box through the grasp of Merav Shamir. Patrizia Panico claimed her 20th European club goal with 21 minutes left, tapping in after a great Sandy Iannella cross to leave Torres in control for next Wednesday's return in Sassari.

Eleven more first legs, including holders Olympique Lyonnais' trip to CFF Olimpia Cluj, are tomorrow.
