The UEFA Women's Champions League knockout phase begins on Wednesday with potential winners going head to head in the round of 32 first legs.

Unseeded in their debut campaign, Swedish champions Tyresö FF were drawn against another ambitious club, Paris Saint-Germain FC. At home in Wednesday's first leg, Tyresö, who this week gave several top players new contracts, field the likes of Marta, Verónica Boquete, Caroline Seger and Christen Press while PSG – injury allowing – line up with Annike Krahn, Tobin Heath, Marie-Laure Delie and Sweden forward Kosovare Asllani.

The other Damallsvenskan entrants, leaders FCR Malmö, have it little easier as they visit Norway's LSK Kvinner FK on Thursday. Holders VfL Wolfsburg meet the first Estonian side to progress this far, Pärnu JK, while 2013 competition runners-up Olympique Lyonnais travel to FC Twente.

With the round of 16 draw already made, some equally fascinating ties are likely after the second legs are played on 16/17 October. Lyon could be rematched with the team they faced in the 2010 and 2011 finals, 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, while Wolfsburg or Pärnu will take on Malmö or LSK. Also possible is an Anglo-Scottish tie between deposed English champions Arsenal LFC and Glasgow City LFC, though WFC SSHVSM Kairat and R. Standard de Liège, respectively, hope to prevent that.
