Celtic and Twente meet in Hamilton in both teams' first-ever group stage fixture in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

The debutants have also been drawn alongside Chelsea and Real Madrid in Group B.

Form guide

Celtic

This is Celtic's first fixture against Dutch opposition.

Celtic kicked off this season's European campaign with a 3-1 win at Finnish side KuPS Kuopio in their round 1 semi-final in Lithuania on 4 September. Roosa Ariyo put the hosts in front after 18 minutes but Saoirse Noonan's second-half reply took the match into extra time, where Noonan added a further two goals to complete her hat-trick and ensure the Scottish side's progression.

They next defeated group hosts Gintra in the round 1 final three days later, Shannon McGregor and Katherine Loferski earning a 2-0 victory for Elena Sadiku's side.

The Ghirls then overcame Vorskla in a two-legged round 2 tie. Both matches took place in Airdrie, goals from Murphy Agnew (5) in the first leg and Emma Lawton (52) and McGregor (63) in the second earning a 3-0 aggregate victory that made Celtic the first Scottish side to reach the group stage.

This is Celtic's third entry into the Women's Champions League overall. Their previous participations in 2021/22 and 2023/24 both ended in round 1.

After taking charge in January, Sadiku helped Celtic become Scottish Women's Premier League champions for the first time. They had an identical record of W26 D4 L2 with Glasgow rivals Rangers, but their superior goal difference clinched the title.

A 2-3 defeat by Rangers in the semi-finals of the SWPL Cup on 19 January is Celtic's last home defeat in any competition. Their record since then is W10 D2.

Twente

Twente's other previous meeting with a team from Scotland was a 2-0 home defeat by Glasgow City in the 2013/14 qualifying round. Indeed, that was the last time Scottish and Dutch teams met in the Women's Champions League.

Twente have, however, already faced British opposition this season, beating Cardiff City 7-0 in their round 1 semi-final on 4 September.

This will be the Dutch side's tenth Women's Champions League appearance but their first in the group stage.

Under the previous format they reached the round of 16 on three occasions, most recently in 2019/20 when they lost to eventual runners-up Wolfsburg 0-7 on aggregate (0-6 a, 0-1 h). Barcelona were their conquerors on the two previous occasions they reached the same stage, in 2015/16 and 2016/17.

After this season's victory over Cardiff, Charlotte Hulst and Nikée van Dijk both scored twice in a 5-0 victory over Valur in the round 1 final on 7 September.

Twente's round 2 encounter with Croatian champions Osijek was a one-sided affair. Van Dijk was once again on target in the 4-1 first-leg victory on 18 September, before the Tukkers again scored four in the second leg in Netherlands for an 8-1 aggregate win.

Twente won a record-extending ninth Dutch league title last term, losing just twice in their 22 games to finish two points ahead of previous champions Ajax.

Joran Pot's side have won both their away games this season, scoring seven goals and conceding two. Their last away defeat in any competition came on 1 May against Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie.
