Although this is their first game against Bayern, Juventus are unbeaten in their three fixtures against German sides. They were, however, eliminated by Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties (4-5) in the round 1 final last season after the two sides had played out a 1-1 draw.
They had previously faced Wolfsburg in the 2021/22 group stage. The first leg in Turin – their only previous home game against German visitors – ended 2-2 with Player of the Match Cristiana Girelli scoring twice (22, 90+1) before Juventus won 2-0 in Germany on Matchday 4.
Finishing second in that group behind Wolfsburg – ahead of Chelsea and Servette – Juve reached the quarter-finals for the first time, where they were eliminated 3-4 on aggregate by eventual champions Lyon 3-4.
A fine Sofia Cantore strike in the 29th minute was enough for victory against Vålerenga on Matchday 1 this season. Juventus have now won all three of their group stage openers.
This is the Italian side's seventh successive season in European competition since their debut in 2018/19. It is also their third time in the group stage, last season the only time they have missed out in the current format.
A team managed by Joe Montemurro won just one game in the competition last year, 6-0 against Kazakhstan’s Okzhetpes in the round 1 semi-final in Germany. Three days later they suffered that shoot-out loss to Frankfurt.
Juventus began in round 2 this season and overcame Paris Saint-Germain 5-2 on aggregate (3-1 h, 2-1 a). Amalie Vangsgaard (7), Sofia Cantore (34) and Hanna Bennison (61) struck in the first leg in Biella on 18 September while Cantore (3) was again on target in the Paris return, Barbara Bonansea (72) sealing the win.
Le Bianconere have been back-to-back runners-up in Serie A, and claimed their fourth Supercoppa Italiana with a 2-1 win over Roma on 7 January.

Bayern faced Roma twice in Group C last year, their only previous matches against Italian opponents. Both fixtures ended 2-2, the trip to Italy requiring a 96th-minute equaliser from Lea Schüller, her second goal of the game.
This season a 5-2 win at home to Arsenal kick-started Bayern's Group C campaign on 9 October in Munich, largely thanks to a late Pernille Harder hat-trick (73, 78, 86). Glódís Viggósdóttir had levelled at 1-1 with Sydney Lohmann scoring Bayern's second before Arsenal had made it 2-2.
This is Bayern's fourth successive group appearance. They progressed to the quarter-finals as section runners-up in both 2021/22 and 2022/23, but did not make it out of Group C last year as they finished third behind Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax.
The German club have reached the semi-finals twice – a defeat to Chelsea 3-5 on aggregate in 2020/21 (2-1 h, 1-4 a) and also in 2018/19, when they were knocked out by eventual runners-up Barcelona having lost 0-1 both home and away.
This is Bayern's 11th Women's Champions League appearance, their first coming in 2009/10. This is the tenth season in a row in which they have taken part.
Bayern won their sixth Frauen-Bundesliga title last term, and second in a row, finishing seven points clear of Wolfsburg. The Munich club were unbeaten in their 22 games (W19 D3), scoring 60 goals and conceding just eight.
