Unbeaten in this season's UEFA Women's Champions League, Bayern München welcome Juventus to Germany in the penultimate round of Group C fixtures.

Despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Vålerenga in Oslo last time out, Bayern are assured of a spot in the quarter-finals, but Juve's 1-0 defeat at Arsenal on Matchday 4 ended their own hopes of progression.

Bayern will top the group should they win and Arsenal lose at Vålerenga in the other Matchday 5 fixture in Group C.

Previous meetings

Linda Dallmann and Pernille Harder got the goals as Bayern beat Juventus 2-0 in Italy on Matchday 2 – the only previous meeting between the two sides.

Bayern faced Roma twice in Group C last year, their only matches against Italian opponents before this season. Both fixtures ended 2-2, the trip to Italy requiring a 96th-minute equaliser from Lea Schüller, her second goal of the game.

Prior to their Matchday 4 draw at Vålerenga, Bayern had won their previous three group stage fixtures with Harder scoring five goals across those victories.

This is Bayern's fourth successive group appearance. They progressed to the quarter-finals as section runners-up in both 2021/22 and 2022/23, but did not make it out of Group C last year as they finished third behind Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax.

The German club have reached the semi-finals twice – losing 3-5 on aggregate to Chelsea in 2020/21 (2-1 h, 1-4 a) and previously in 2018/19, when they were knocked out by eventual runners-up Barcelona having lost 0-1 both home and away.

This is Bayern's 11th Women's Champions League appearance, their first coming in 2009/10. This is the tenth season in a row in which they have taken part.

The German side are unbeaten at home in all competitions this season (W6 D1), and have not lost in Munich since a 0-5 defeat by Wolfsburg in April 2023.

Bayern won their sixth Frauen-Bundesliga title last term, and second in a row, finishing seven points clear of Wolfsburg. The Munich club were unbeaten in their 22 games (W19 D3), scoring 60 goals and conceding just eight.

Before the Matchday 2 defeat by Bayern, Juventus were unbeaten in their three fixtures against German sides. They were, however, eliminated by Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties (4-5) in the round 1 final last season after the sides had played out a 1-1 draw.

They had previously faced Wolfsburg in the 2021/22 group stage. The first match in Turin – their first home game against German visitors – ended 2-2 with Player of the Match Cristiana Girelli scoring twice (22, 90+1) before Juventus won 2-0 in Germany on Matchday 4.

Finishing second in that group behind Wolfsburg – ahead of Chelsea and Servette – Juve reached the quarter-finals for the first time, where they were eliminated 3-4 on aggregate by eventual champions Lyon.

A team managed by Joe Montemurro won just one game in the competition last year, 6-0 against Kazakhstan's Okzhetpes in the round 1 semi-final in Germany. Three days later they were eliminated by Frankfurt.

Juventus began in round 2 this season and overcame Paris Saint-Germain 5-2 on aggregate (3-1 h, 2-1 a). Amalie Vangsgaard (7), Cantore (34) and Hanna Bennison (61) struck in the first leg in Biella on 18 September while Cantore (3) was again on target in the Paris return, Barbara Bonansea (72) sealing the win.

Juve's defeat at Arsenal on Matchday 4 is their only away loss in all competitions this season (W8 D1).

Le Bianconere have been back-to-back runners-up in Serie A, and claimed their fourth Supercoppa Italiana with a 2-1 win over Roma on 7 January.
