The champions of Germany and England meet on UEFA Women's Champions League Matchday 1 as Munich's Stadion Am Sportpark plays host to the first-ever meeting between Bayern München and Manchester City.

This is the inaugural meeting between the clubs, and City's first against a German club.
City are Bayern's fourth English opponenta after previous fixtures against Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Bayern have won their last three contests against English clubs, making it seven victories from their 11 meetings overall (L4). Their last five encounters have featured an average of five goals per game.
The German club eliminated City's neighbours Manchester United in last season's quarter-finals, winning 3-2 at Old Trafford and 2-1 at Fußball Arena München.
Bayern have won all six home matches against clubs from England.
This is Bayern's 13th Women's Champions League appearance, their first coming in 2009/10. It is the 12th season in a row in which they have taken part and they have featured in every group stage/league phase since the competition was reformatted in 2021/22, a record they share with Barcelona, Chelsea, OL Lyonnes and Real Madrid.
Last season, Bayern reached the semi-finals for the third time. They were eliminated in the last four by eventual winners Barcelona (1-1 h, 2-4 a), after beating Manchester United in the quarter-finals (3-2 a, 2-1 h). They had finished fourth in the inaugural league phase with a record of W4 D1 L1.
This is City’s first league phase participation, having last featured under the previous format in 2024/25. On that occasion, they lost to fellow English club Chelsea in the quarter-finals (2-0 h, 0-3 a) after finishing second in Group D behind Barcelona and ahead of Hammarby and St. Pölten.
The English champions reached the semi-finals in their first two Champions League campaigns, losing to eventual champions OL Lyonnes on both occasions – 2-3 in 2016/17 (1-3 h, 1-0 a) and 0-1 in 2017/18 (0-0 h, 0-1 a).
