Having come through qualifying, Inter welcome UEFA Women's Europa Cup holders Häcken to Monza on Matchday 1 as the league phase of the UEFA Women's Champions League begins.

The first meetings between the sides came in the round of 16 of last year's Women's Europa Cup. An own goal from Inter's Cecilía Rúnarsdóttir four minutes into the first leg in Gothenburg gave Häcken a 1-0 first-leg success, a 0-0 second-leg draw in Milan ultimately taking the Swedish side through on their way to the title.
Those are the only games that either club has contested against a team from the opposing country.
Inter are featuring in the group stage/league phase of the Women's Champions League for the first time, having beaten two-time winners Wolfsburg 5-4 on penalties in the third qualifying round (0-2 a, 3-1 h aet).
The 2025/26 campaign was the Italian side's debut in UEFA competition. After losing 2-1 to Brann in the second qualifying round semi-final of the Women's Champions League, they entered the inaugural Women's Europa Cup, where they reached the round of 16 before losing to Häcken.

They had entered that competition after being eliminated 2-3 on aggregate by Atlético de Madrid in the final round of Women's Champions League qualifying (1-1 h, 1-2 a aet).
Häcken have reached the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League thre times, in 2011/12, 2012/13 and most recently 2023/24, when they were beaten 1-5 by Paris Saint-Germain (1-2 h, 0-3 a).
