UEFA Women's Champions League Matchday 3 brings a first meeting between Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, with both teams unbeaten in the league phase.

Last match

This is the first time City and Paris SG have faced each other.

City's record against French opponents is W3 D1 L2 with clean sheets in four of those six fixtures. Their last encounters were against Paris FC in round 2 of the 2024/25 Women's Champions League, City winning 5-0 in France and 3-0 in Manchester.

That second-leg win is City's only success against French visitors, having lost 1-3 to OL Lyonnes in the first leg of a 2016/17 semi-final (2-3 aggregate) and drawn 0-0 with the same opponents a year later, also in the first leg of a last-four tie (0-1 agg).

Paris SG also visited Manchester on Matchday 3 last season, when they lost 1-2 to Manchester United. Their most recent victory against an English team was a 3-1 win at home against the same opponents in the second leg of a round 2 tie in 2023/24 (4-2 agg).

Paris SG have never won in England, drawing once and losing on their other three visits.

Manchester City

This is City’s first league phase participation, having last featured under the previous format in 2024/25. On that occasion, they lost to fellow English club Chelsea in the quarter-finals (2-0 h, 0-3 a) after finishing second in Group D behind Barcelona and ahead of Hammarby and St. Pölten.

The English champions reached the semi-finals in their first two Champions League campaigns, losing to eventual champions OL Lyonnes on both occasions – 2-3 in 2016/17 (1-3 h, 1-0 a) and 0-1 in 2017/18 (0-0 h, 0-1 a).

Paris SG

Paris SG reached the Women's Champions League final twice in three years, losing to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2015 (1-2) and fellow French side OL Lyonnes in 2017 (0-0 aet, 6-7 pens). They reached at least the quarter-finals six times in succession between 2018/19 and 2023/24, but lost in qualifying in 2024/25 and finished 17th in last season's league phase with a record of D2 L4.

The Parisiens were 6-2 aggregate winners against Frankfurt in this season's third qualifying round (1-1 a, 5-1 h aet) and are featuring in the group stage/league phase for the fifth time in six seasons.
