Lithuania claimed second place in UEFA Futsal EURO 2014 preliminary round Group C thanks to a hard-earned 1-0 win against Cyprus.
The mini-tournament hosts, whose fate was sealed by England's 2-1 success against the same opposition on Saturday, were made to work for their maiden win and finally ended Cyprus' resolve when Audrius Juozaitis found the net four minutes from time. The result means Lithuania finish three points behind group winners England, who advance to a main round Group 7 containing Ukraine, Slovenia and hosts Turkey, all of whom competed at the 2012 showpiece in Croatia.
Previously through from the preliminary round are Montenegro, Georgia, Greece, Norway and Group E winners Sweden, who will travel to face holders Spain in main round Group 4. The seven main round group winners will progress to the finals in Antwerp, where they will join hosts Belgium, while the seven runners-up and best third-placed team enter the play-offs on 17 and 24 September. That will decide the last four entrants for the 12-team finals from 28 January to 8 February 2014.
