Hibernians reached the Maltese Trophy semi-finals with a 3-1 win against Hamrun Spartans FC.
Overturn deficit
The newly crowned Maltese champions overcame stern resistance from Hamrun, overturning a one-goal deficit after Mauro Brincat beat Hibernians goalkeeper Mario Muscat with a dipping angled shot after 17 minutes.
Ciantar levels
Adrian Ciantar equalised on 32 minutes as he latched on to a perfect pass from Chuckunyere Ndubisi and two goals from Adrian Mifsud in the second-half completed the turnaround for the champions.
Mifsud double
Mifsud beat Daniel Dengaky in the Hamrun goal with a low shot, after receiving a pass from the hard-working Ndubisi after 63 minutes and scored again seven minutes later from a Miguel Mifsud cross.
Sliema triumph
Earlier in the day, Sliema Wanderers FC booked their place in the last four with a 2-1 win against Pietà Hotspurs FC. Noel Turner gave Sliema the lead from the penalty spot after 62 minutes following a foul on Danilo Doncic, but Ivan Woods equalised with another penalty.
Late winner
However, with the game seemingly headed for extra time, Sliema provided a dramatic finish as Massimo Grima floated home a free-kick in the dying seconds.
