The Nigerian striker opened his account after just four minutes and although Andreas Johansson quickly levelled the scores, Ijeh completed his treble inside 16 minutes to put Malmö 3-1 up.
No way back
Daniel Majstorovic extended the lead on the half-hour and despite a goal from Kim Kallström and another from Johansson, Djurgården could not claw their way back.
Örebro go fourth
Elsewhere, Örebro SK FK moved up to fourth place with a 2-0 win against IFK Göteborg, clinched by second-half goals from Johan Wallinder and Chris Pozniak. Krister Nordin was on target for AIK Solna as they beat IF Elfsborg 1-0.
Champions hold on
On Saturday, Örgryte IS and champions Hammarby IF FF drew 1-1 after Mikael Andersson's opener was cancelled out by Örgryte substitute Joachim Karlsson. Hammarby were reduced to ten men when defender Johan Andersson was sent off for a late foul on Afonso.
