Hrvoje Braovic has relinquished his duties as SFK Lyn coach just four months after taking over the Norwegian club.
World Cup experience
The assistant coach of Croatia's FIFA World Cup squad, Braovic was blamed for Lyn's poor performance in the second half of the season, which saw them tail off in the championship race. He took over in July with a five-point lead at the top of the Tippeligaen - with then coach Sture Fladmark standing down but remaining as his assistant.
'Tough time'
But Lyn failed to maintain the pace and finished the season nine points behind champions Rosenborg BK and three behind runners-up Molde FK. "Braovic asked me if he could be released from his contract, and I understand why," said Lyn owner Atle Brynestad. "He has had a very tough time in Norway. He never got the chance to show what he can do." Lyn player Jonny Hanssen, who said he would leave the club if Braovic was not sacked, will be punished by the club.
Baxter approached
Former Lyn coach Stuart Baxter has been approached to return but currently works for the English Football Association.
