Article body
A solitary goal from Bjørn Arild Levernes won the Norwegian Cup for Vålerenga Fotball as they came up against Odds BK in the tournament's showpiece.
Early goal
Just five minutes into the game, Levernes, who also scored in the 1997 cup final, was played free on the left and hammered the ball into the net. He later said: "It was a tremendous feeling to see the ball go in but I could not miss - it was an open goal."
Rekdal rules
Midfield player coach Kjetil Rekdal was an inspiration for Vålerenga, although Odd had two great chances to get back into the match, notably when Jan Gunnar Sollie hit the post in the second half. However, Vålerenga held on to lift the trophy for the third time in their history.
