Stadium ban for Fenerbahçe

Members

Fenerbahçe SK have received a one-match ban from their home stadium after trouble in the Istanbul derby.

The Turkish Football Association (TFF) today fined Fenerbahçe SK €1,000 and closed their Sükrü Saraçoglu stadium for one match following crowd disturbances during last Wednesday's 6-0 Istanbul derby victory against Galatasaray SK.

Neutral ground
Sunday's scheduled home fixture against Bursaspor will now be played at MKE Ankaragücü's 19 Mayis stadium in Ankara. It is the second month in succession that Fenerbahçe have been punished by the TFF, their 18 October match against Adanaspor AS having been played behind closed doors.

Ortega and Emre banned
Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe playmaker Ariel Ortega was banned for two matches after he was sent off in the 58th minute of the derby triumph. Galatasaray were fined €1700 and also saw defender Emre Asik handed a three-match ban for deliberately standing on an opponent in the volatile fixture, an action which earned him a red card.
