Turkish sojourn
The French Under-21 international has agreed a four-year contract with Marseille after spending six months with the Turkish Cup winners. Prior to that, he was at FC Metz where his coach was Jean Fernandez - the man Marseille appointed as their new coach yesterday.
Busy year
The move completes a busy 12 months for the 22-year-old, whom Fernandez brought from third division Stade Brestois 29 at the start of last season. He made a bright start in Ligue 1, and was involved in all three goals as Metz beat Marseille 3-1 at home on 28 August 2004.
Summer signings
Ribéry becomes Marseille's second summer recruit. The club, who finished fifth in Ligue 1, will begin their Intertoto Cup campaign in the third round in mid-July, against either Switzerland's BSC Young Boys, Iceland's Skála Ítróttarfelag or Finns Tampere United.
