Vincenzo Montella has been appointed as the new coach of Calcio Catania after impressing during a caretaker stint at AS Roma last season.
Montella arrives at the Sicilian outfit in place of Diego Simeone, who left the club earlier this month after less than six months at the helm. The former Italy striker, who turns 37 later this month, filled the void left by Claudio Ranieri at the Stadio Olimpico in February and steered the Giallorossi to sixth place in Serie A.
He failed to earn an extended deal at the capital club, however, and has now replaced Simeone on a two-year contract. Montella won a Scudetto, two Italian Super Cups and a Coppa Italia as a Roma player.
