SS Lazio swept aside AC Chievo Verona 3-0 to record their second win of the season and Genoa CFC enjoyed a first victory of the campaign by seeing off neighbours UC Sampdoria by the same scoreline.

Defeated 4-1 by Juventus last time out, Vladimir Petković's Lazio made the perfect start in their bid to make amends when Antonio Candreva scored after eight minutes. Luis Cavanda doubled the home team's lead seven minutes before the interval and defender Senad Lulić added the final flourish.

As for Genoa, they lifted themselves out of the bottom three with an eye-catching derby success. Luca Antonini struck on nine minutes before second-half efforts from Emanuele Calaio and Francesco Lodi left Sampdoria on one point.

Earlier in the day, ACF Fiorentina were on course for a third straight victory when Borja Valero broke the deadlock against Cagliari Calcio with 19 minutes remaining. However, they were stung by Mauricio Pinilla's 89th-minute reply and finished with ten men when David Pizarro was sent off on the stroke of full time.

Elsewhere, Paulo Sergio Betanin registered two second-half goals as AS Livorno Calcio consigned Calcio Catania to a 2-0 reverse, while Antonio Di Natale salvaged a 1-1 draw for Udinese Calcio at home to Bologna FC. As for Hellas Verona FC, they continued their impressive start to the campaign by defeating US Sassuolo Calcio 2-0.
