Article body
Olympique de Marseille went a point clear at the top of Ligue 1 in France with a 2-0 home win against Stade Rennais FC tonight in front of 38,885 fans.
Bakayoko opener
Ivory Coast forward Ibrahima Bakayoko's sixth league goal of the season gave Marseille the lead after just six minutes. Belgian international Daniel van Buyten doubled the hosts' advantage 12 minutes later with a fine volley and after that there was no way back for Rennes, who had won their previous five games but remain in 14th place.
Nice and Lyon in action
Marseille could lose top spot tomorrow night when high-flying OGC Nice and Olympique Lyonnais are both in action. However, RC Lens's home encounter with FC Nantes Atlantique, FC Girondins de Bordeaux's trip to RC Strasbourg and ES Troyes Aube Champagne's home match against Lille OSC have all fallen foul of the weather and been postponed.
Other games under threat
A number of other Wednesday matches risk postponement including Paris Saint-Germain FC's home game with Le Havre AC and CS Sedan-Ardennes' fixture with AC Ajaccio.
