AC Sparta Praha kept up their winning start to the Czech first division season with a 2-1 victory at 1. FC Brno.
Pospísil double
Four days after their narrow exit from the UEFA Champions League, Sparta recovered thanks to a double from Michal Pospísil. His first goal was immediately cancelled out by Libor Dosek, but Brno's hopes were hit when their goalkeeper Lubos Pribyl was sent off for deliberate handball outside the box and there was no answer to Pospísil's second.
Last-minute draw
FK Viktoria Zizkov seemed to be waving goodbye to their 27-match unbeaten home run when they trailed 2-0 to SK Sigma Olomouc with 22 minutes to go. But Zizkov captain Ales Pikl reduced the deficit and then Zimbabwean striker Kennedy Chihuri levelled the game in added time to keep the hosts' record intact.
Five goals for Slavia
The biggest winners of the day were SK Slavia Praha, who ran out 5-1 victors against FC Zlín. The visitors fielded two new signings - midfield player Bronislav Cervenka from Baník Ostrava and ex-FK Chmel Blsany striker Frantisek Koubek, but Slavia were not troubled as they claimed three goals before half-time. Karel Piták opened the scoring and Tomás Dosek added two more in the first period, with Rudolf Dostálek and Tomás Hrdlicka adding to the tally after the break.
Win for ten men
FC Baník Ostrava beat FC Príbram 1-0 despite having Pavel Besta sent off in the 33rd minute, 18-year-old Václav Sverkos scoring the winner with his first league goal, while 1. FC Synot recorded their first win of the season in the game, securing a 2-0 victory over 10-man SK Ceské Budéjovice.
First point for Uhrin
New CU Bohemians Praha coach Dusan Uhrin junior, the son of the former national team chief, guided the club to their first point of the campaign with a 1-1 draw at SK Hradec Králové, having held the lead until the last ten minutes, while a goalless draw at FK Chmel Blšany lifted FK Jablonec 97 to second place, four points behind Sparta. Champions FC Slovan Liberec face FK Teplice on Monday.
