Leaders FC Sheriff Tiraspol claimed a last-gasp victory over lowly FC Hîncesti to stay seven points clear of an FC Zimbru Chisinau side awarded three points by default after a controversial derby match against FC Agro Chisinau.
Agro protest
The match came to an abrupt finish on 78 minutes with Zimbru 2-0 ahead when the Agro players stormed off in angry protest at referee Vasile Carp's award of a penalty to Zimbru. Agro had already lost midfield player Serghey Cuznetov to a red card and a club spokesman said afterwards: "We understand we will be punished but we could not tolerate this any more."
Deep into added time
Gheorghe Rohat and Vladimir Shishelov had scored for Zimbru before the match was abandoned. Sheriff's match was also not without controversy as they defeated bottom club Hîncesti with a goal six minutes into added time, Ivan Tiestimitanu the scorer.
Nistru win again
Elsewhere, FC Dacia Chisinau beat FC Politechnica Chisinau 1-0, the only goal coming from Nicolai Vozian, while FC Nistru Otaci were 2-1 winners against FC Tiraspol. It was Nistru's second win in quick succession after they defeated Hîncesti 2-0 in a postponed fixture last Wednesday.
