AFC Rapid Bucuresti have sold team captain Constantin Schumacher to Chinese club Yunnan Hongta for a figure believed to be in the region of €600,000.

Three-year deal
Schumacher, 26, has signed a three-year contract with the club after making 226 Divizia A appearances and scoring 43 goals in spells at Rapid and FC Arges-Dacia Pitesti.

'Family future'
Despite Romania coach Anghel Iordanescu warning Schumacher his chances of selection for the international team would be "very slim" if he chose to move to China, the midfield player said: "I'll soon be 27 and I have to do something for the future of my family."

'Chance deserved'
Rapid coach Mircea Rednic said: "During the winter break, only one other player will leave the club. He will be either Adrian Iencsi or Marius Maldarasanu. Like Schumacher, both have played for Rapid for a number of years and they deserve the chance to earn more money."
