Having launched on matchday one, UEFA.com's new MatchCentre returns this week with even more impressive features.

The most notable addition to your matchnight experience is the "live attack indicator", an ever-changing bar that indicates which team is on top at any one time. Events such as corners, free-kicks, crosses into the penalty area, attempts on goal, clear chances, penalties and goals will be combined to provide a live indication of how the match is progressing.

Our comparison portlet, which enables you to compare a host of facts about the teams and individuals involved in any particular game, has also been enhanced. Three new statistics – offsides, attempts on target and attempts off target – have been added to give the user an even better overview of the match they are following. Also, coming soon will be a 'pitch view' portlet which will afford you a tactical insight as well as heat maps for every player to show their movements throughout the game.

Do not forget that our MatchCentre editors will supply expert commentary, context and colour throughout, while reporters at every UEFA Champions League fixture between now and next May's final will bring you news direct from the stadiums. We will also deliver flash quotes from players and coaches soon after the final whistle.

Still with live commentary and instant updates from all the venues, our new application has been further enriched by polls, photos and videos. As well as being able to join the discussion in our MatchCentre chat before, during and after games, you can also have your say via Facebook and Twitter.

You can choose the full range of MatchCentre portlets – commentary, match stats, team lineups, standings, player info, photos, videos, live scores and player comparisons – for the ultimate live experience. Alternatively, you can customise the MatchCentre, including the TV companion mode which allows our real-time data and analysis to complement your viewing of the game.

Accessible via the UEFA.com and UEFA Champions League homepages, the MatchCentre will open at 17.15CET this week because of the early fixtures in Russia. It will remain open until 24.00CET, when video highlights will be available.

We will also run a similar service for the UEFA Europa League, from 18.15CET on Thursday, and for November's UEFA EURO 2012 play-offs, as well as next summer's final tournament.
