Dutch coaches happy with stalemate

FC Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard was relatively satisfied with Tuesday's goalless first-leg draw in Lisbon, as was SL Benfica's Ronald Koeman.

FC Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard declared himself relatively content with a goalless draw in the first leg of his side's UEFA Champions League quarter-final away to SL Benfica. His opposite number, Dutch compatriot Ronald Koeman, was also satisfied after a game which either team could have won had it not been for the outstanding form of the two goalkeepers.

Ronald Koeman, Benfica coach
We knew it before, and Barcelona showed again that they have a great team. They created a lot of chances, especially in the first half when we were nervous. In the second half we improved, but overall Barcelona were better because they created more opportunities than us. The last 20 minutes we were physically better and we were more dangerous. Before this game they were the favourites and after this result they still are, but we will fight at the Camp Nou. The game will be similar there: Barça will dominate but we have to maintain our concentration and keep Ronaldinho and Deco well marked. I have to salute the very good work of Ricardo Rocha against Ronaldinho and Beto against Deco tonight.

Frank Rijkaard, Barcelona coach
Both teams had chances, so we can't complain about the result. We are sad because we didn't score, but nothing is decided. The option of playing with Thiago Motta and Andrés Iniesta [in central defence and left midfield respectively] worked as they adapted well to their positions. Now we have to keep this attitude. Benfica showed they are a good team and Ronaldinho was well marked.
