Alexander Zickler has added to FC Bayern München’s injury woes ahead of their UEFA Champions League match with FC Spartak Moscow on Tuesday.
'Badly damaged'
He hurt his knee in Saturday’s 3-0 win over FC Energie Cottbus. Zickler, who had scored Bayern’s first goal, said: "It looks like the ligaments are badly damaged.”
Key players out
Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has already lost a number of key players for the match in Russia, including midfielders Stefan Effenberg, Mehmet Scholl and Jens Jeremies, defender Thomas Linke and Carsten Jancker.
Win needed
The forward could also now miss Germany’s final FIFA World Cup qualifier at home to Finland on 6 October. Germany need a win and an England draw or defeat against Greece to book an automatic place at Korea/Japan next year.
