'Definitive answer'
"Coach Guus Hiddink has given a definitive answer and will coach the club's first team for the next two seasons," PSV said in a statement on Monday. Meanwhile club chairman Harry van Raaij said: "I am a proud man. We have finally succeeded in bringing Guus Hiddink back to where his successful career began."
'He was honoured'
Van Raaij continued: "After saying goodbye to [previous coach] Eric Gerets I consulted the technical staff and the players and after that we phoned Guus right away. He was honoured that we thought of him first, but he wanted to pay his attention to the World Cup before doing anything else. This morning we first informed the players and technical staff and now the main priority is that Guus is going to enjoy a well-deserved holiday."
Best Asian showing
Hiddink, 55, coached Korea for 18 months. They beat Poland, Portugal, Italy and Spain at the World Cup to finish fourth - the best showing by an Asian team in the tournament's 72-year history.
PSV career
PSV are the club that gave Hiddink his start as an assistant coach in 1983. He had played there and went on to become head coach at the Philips stadium, leading them to three Dutch League titles and a European Champion Clubs' Cup in 1988.
