Bramble completes Newcastle move

Titus Bramble completed his move from Ipswich Town FC to Newcastle United FC on Friday.

Titus Bramble has completed his move from Ipswich Town FC to Newcastle United FC, the FA Premiership club said today.

'Joining a massive club'
The 20-year-old centre-back, who has signed a five-year contract at St James' Park, was forced to delay his €7.8m transfer due to an ankle injury, but is regaining fitness. The English Under-21 international said in a statement: "Whilst I am sad to be leaving Ipswich Town, I am thrilled to be joining such a massive club as Newcastle United. There are some terrific players here, a tremendous manager and I cannot wait for the new season to start."

Strengthening the defence
Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson added in the statement: "I am delighted Titus will part of our squad next season. He is a powerfully built lad who has the potential to achieve great things in the game." Bramble, who played 22 games last season as Ipswich were relegated to the first division, will link up with another former Ipswich player Kieron Dyer, who moved to Newcastle in July 1999 and may even get a chance to impress the Newcastle fans when they play their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie next month.
