Eggen to stay with Rosenborg

Nils Arne Eggen will continue to work with Rosenborg BK after he leaves his post as coach.

Nils Arne Eggen has revealed he is to stay with Rosenborg BK beyond the end of the season despite his decision to retire as coach.

Charismatic coach
The charismatic coach who has led the Trondheim club to much success in Europe, first revealed he planned to retire in an interview with uefa.com in April. He now intends to stay with the domestic champions until he reaches 67, the natural age for retirement in Norway.

Deal agreed
Eggen and the club are currently discussing what capacity he will take. Rosenborg director Nils Skutle said: "We have agreed a deal that will benefit both parties. It is good for Eggen to know that he has secured a fixed salary in the years leading up to his retirement."

Modernisation of stadium
The modernisation of the club's €31.9m Lerkendal stadium and new conference centre may produce a stage for Eggen's new work, as Skutle explained. "He will conduct [talks] on issues like team building, and so on."

Good start
Tonight, Rosenborg face Olympique Lyonnais in the UEFA Champions League having made a good start to their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Internazionale FC last week in Trondheim.
