Article body
AJ Auxerre striker Djibril Cissé will miss Wednesday's UEFA Champions League Group A match against Arsenal FC because of a foot injury.
Doubtful for France
The French international, who has been sidelined since Auxerre's visit to SC Bastia on 15 September, has missed their first two Champions League games and must now be doubtful for the national team's EURO 2004™ qualifiers against Slovenia and Malta next month.
'Three or four weeks'
"The pain woke him up in the middle of the night," said Auxerre coach Guy Roux. "I really don't know how long it's going to take him to recover completely." Cissé was to have further medical tests on Monday and was pessimistic about his comeback, saying he "may have to rest for three or four more weeks".
Able deputy
Benjamin Mwaruwari is likely to carry on deputising for Cissé against Arsenal. The Zimbabwean has scored six goals in the Ligue 1 this term, including the first goal in the 4-1 weekend win over FC Nantes Atlantique.
