Semin delight at Lokomotiv resurrection

FC Lokomotiv Moskva coach Yuri Semin was thrilled after his side's win against Galatasaray SK.

FC Lokomotiv Moskva coach Yuri Semin was delighted by his team's disciplined performance in defeating Galatasaray SK 2-1 in their UEFA Champions League encounter at the Ali Sami Yen stadium on Matchday Five, keeping their hopes of finishing second in Group H alive.

'We were better'
"This was a great result for us and in the second half we played better than Galatasaray," said Semin. "We are delighted to get our first victory in this group. Galatasaray are a strong team, but we were better tonight."

'Good performance'
"It was not easy, but we prevailed," he continued. "To get our first win like this is fantastic because we had struggled and even been unlucky so far. But now we still have a chance of going through after a good performance tonight."

Famous victory
The game had seemed to be drifting to a goalless draw, until it burst into life midway through the second half. Dmitry Loskov opened the scoring on 70 minutes, only for Hasan Sas to equalise within three minutes. Then Vadim Evseev powered a header into the net on 75 minutes and Lokomotiv had sealed a famous victory for the visitors.

'We still have a chance'
Lokomotiv seemed to be all but out of the competition after collecting just a solitary point from their previous four games, but after tonight's performance, they will be awaiting the visit of Club Brugge KV with optimism. "Tonight's result means that we still have a chance in the UEFA Champions League," added Semin.

Terim downcast

Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim was understandably downcast, and his side must now overcome group leaders Barcelona in the Camp Nou if they are to progress.

'One more chance'
"We always squander our advantages," he said. "But we have one more chance. It is now up to us to beat Barcelona. In the first half today we did our best."

'We made mistakes'
"The most interesting point was how we conceded the two goals. Neither came from good positions and both were down to mistakes by our players. We weren't unlucky, we made mistakes," he added.

Make or break
The trip to the Camp Nou on Matchday Six is now make or break for Galatasaray, and Terim has confidence that his side can pull off an upset in Spain.

'We must do it'
"We will do our best to beat Barcelona," he said. "We have one more chance, and that requires us to win. I know it will be hard, but we must do it. Our aim is still to qualify for the second group stage."

Terim belief
"Galatasaray have had a lot of great victories in the past," he added. "We have achieved great results when we needed them in our history and I believe we will do it again in Barcelona."
