Internazionale FC will be without defender Francesco Coco for at least a month due to a thigh injury.
Article body
Internazionale FC defender Francesco Coco will be out of action for at least a month after suffering a thigh injury during the 1-0 defeat of Valencia CF in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Four-week absence
The 26-year-old left-back limped off in the first half of the match and a scan on Friday confirmed that the injury would keep him on the sidelines for at least four weeks.
Key games
Coco, who joined Inter from FC Barcelona at the end of last season, will be out of action for a number of key games, missing Saturday’s derby with AC Milan and will also be unavailable for Inter's visit to Valencia in the return leg of the Champions League quarter-final at the Mestalla on 22 April.
Semi-final blow
The injury will come as a blow to Inter coach Héctor Cúper at a crucial stage of the season. Inter currently lie second in Serie A, five points behind leaders Juventus FC and, in addition to missing a number of potentially vital league games, Coco is also unlikely to be available for either leg of the Champions Leg semi-finals in May should Inter defeat Valencia.
Injury problems
The injury is a further blow for Coco, whose season has been blighted by injury. The Italian international defender has missed a number of games with cartilage and ligament problems.
