Season loan
In a surprise move, the Romanian champions allowed Rat to sign a five-year contract with Shakhtar, with the Ukrainian club paying an undisclosed fee for the midfield player. Both clubs will play in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round.
New recruits
Rat, 22, won two league titles and a Romanian Cup with Rapid. His replacement will be FCM Bacau's Valeriu Bordeanu who has joined the Bucharest club on a three-year contract. Rapid have also signed midfield player Sergiu Brujan from FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt on a four-year deal and expect to complete the transfer of Genoa 1893 striker Claudiu Niculescu shortly.
