Resounding victory for Rosenborg

Rosenborg BK 4-0 Bohemian FC (Agg: 5-0) The home side overcome some stout defending to win easily.

Rosenborg BK overcame some stiff resistance from Bohemian FC to book their place in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League with a 5-0 aggregate victory.

Early opportuntity
Leading 1-0 after the first leg in Dublin, Rosenborg were always favourites to set up a third-round meeting with Spain's RC Deportivo La Coruña, and came close to taking the lead on the night early in the match, but Harald Brattbakk was unable to convert Roar Strand's low right-wing cross.

Bohemians fight back
However, the Irish side came close to scoring a surprise away goal after 13 minutes, as Robbie Doyle's low cross gave Irish international striker Glen Crowe a shooting chance from close range but goalkeeper Espen Johnsen was alert to smother his strike.

Rosenborg pressure
Doyle then tested Johnsen with a speculative 35-metre effort, and the home side had another escape as Mark Rutherford's cross failed to find Doyle unmarked inside the penalty area. Fredrik Winsnes's free-kick on the edge of the Bohemians penalty area was then blocked, before Brattbakk twice went close, forcing a good save from goalkeeper Seamus Kelly.

Karadas converts
The home side finally made the breakthrough a minute before half-time, as Azar Karadas, scorer of the only goal of the first leg, headed a Frode Johnsen cross into the net from eight metres. Rosenborg effectively booked their place in the third round with a second goal on 51 minutes as Ørjan Berg laid off a perfect ball for Brattbakk to round off a swift counterattack with a well-struck shot from the edge of the area.

Kelly heroics
Karadas and Strand both went close to further extending the lead before Kelly produced a superb diving save to deny Wisnes. However, Strand then made the score on the night 3-0 with a powerful shot from just outside the penalty area, and 15 minutes from time Christer Basma's low cross was turned in by Frode Johnsen at the far post to complete the victory, although there was still time for Kelly to make two more impressive saves.
